Following their acclaimed Community Staging of American Idiot, MTExperiments reframe the the Tony Award & Pulitzer Prize winning cultural phenomenon: RENT.
One of the world’s most renowned musicals, RENT is a pop cultural phenomenon exploring love, finding your voice & living for today. Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, RENT follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
Larson’s electric legacy collides times and spaces of New York City exploring community love and survival. Through a tear in linear time, the production acts as a celebration & tribute to lives and spaces lost now and in the future by celebrating life in the moment. This vibrant, colourful new staging is directed by Matt Powell (assistance from Georgia Banks), with musical direction from Anna McAuley & Charlotte Daniel and choreography by Charli Richardson Astle.
